![]() I'll probably replace it eventually with an even sicker pun.) On each episode of WDML, a guest and I will examine a beloved piece of pop culture (a movie, book, tv show, pop singer) that they have discovered to be rather problematic since growing up. (Don't worry, Woke Down Memory Lane's only a working title. ![]() I plan to have a draft ready for beta-readers by October 2019, and a polished draft ready for submission on the festival circuit no later than January 2020.Īn Audio Deep Dive: Woke Down Memory Lane ![]() She films herself to document her creative process, and through her tapes we watch her battles with writer's block, imposter syndrome, and the mysterious and increasingly violent stranger in the woods who seems perpetually to be closing in. A young artist wins a grant that enables her to leave the city she's struggled for a solitary residency in the woods, where her patrons have given her time, space, and money to make whatever art she wants. After further research and rewriting, I hope to have a workshop-ready draft by October 20th, and a draft suitable for public performance and submission early in 2020. In other words, we follow her through Acts of God, Acts of War, and Acts of Love. By April 20th I will have produced a rough draft for a private reading. The proposed outline carries her from birth, through the Trojan War and the Odyssey, to the founding of Athens and personal peace. I think that's why I became an actor - ever since I started to grow up, I've been chasing that high from childhood where acts of make-believe, in practice or on pages, transformed me for a moment from who I was to who I knew I could have been all along.
